The Opportunity

The Role

Assembles precision components and sub-assemblies used in aerospace and industrial applications. Embraces and exemplifies the Umbra Group values of FIRST Focus on the Customer, Innovation, Respect, Social Responsibility & Teamwork .

1. Seek out opportunities to learn about all areas of the shop floor and pursue ongoing self-development in leadership and technical skills that will enhance products, processes, and people with a focus on the customer.


2. Consult with management and/or others (e.g., engineering, planning, inspection) on process or job-related issues.


3. Obtain and analyze sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample parts to determine dimensions and sequence of operations.


4. Use correct tools (e.g., arbor press, rivet gun, drill motor, power screwdriver, ratchet wrench) to install assembly elements such as bushings, fasteners, components, heli-coil inserts, etc.


5. Check work after each operation to ensure it meets drawings, is defect-free, and the area is clean before inspection.


6. Perform skilled assembly operations such as shimming, fitting, trimming, and aligning, which may vary significantly from one assembly to another.


7. Verify conformance of finished workpieces to specifications.


8. Verify dimensions and alignment of assemblies.


9. Use solvent to clean surfaces prior to sealing or assembly.


10. Apply sealant, alodine, primer, adhesives, and finishes using appropriate PPE. Handle and dispose of hazardous materials properly.

Requirements

• Understanding of proper fit and feel of components such as gears, bearings, pistons, seals, fasteners, springs, valves, and electrical connectors.


• High school diploma, GED, or vocational training related to manufacturing.


• 1 to 3 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.


• Knowledge of Word Processing, Spreadsheet, and Email software.


• Ability to pass pre-employment drug screening and background check.

Work Environment

Standard manufacturing environment with exposure to moving mechanical equipment. Noise levels are frequently moderate to loud. Safety gear such as glasses and shoes are required; hearing protection is recommended or mandatory in certain areas.

Physical Demands

Regularly required to stand, walk, climb, kneel, reach, talk, and hear. Occasionally lift/move up to 35 pounds. May work in loud environments and wear PPE for extended periods. Vision requirements include close, distance, peripheral, and focus adjustment.
