The Vice President - Tax will lead the organization’s tax strategy, collaborating with senior management to identify opportunities for minimizing tax liabilities, optimizing the company’s effective tax rate, and standardizing processes across divisions. This role will assess and communicate the implications of existing and pending tax legislation while working closely with business, treasury, and consolidation teams to navigate complex tax issues.

Major Activities:

• Oversee all aspects of federal, state, local, and international tax compliance, including sales & use tax and escheatment.
• Develop and execute domestic and international tax strategies to enhance operational efficiency and financial outcomes.
• Evaluate and communicate potential tax impacts of existing laws and pending legislation to senior management.
• Lead and mentor a high-performing tax team, fostering professional growth and succession planning.
• Strengthen relationships across the organization to ensure the Tax Department effectively supports key business functions.
• Oversee financial reporting for tax liabilities in accordance with ASC 740, including approval of quarterly and annual financial statement disclosures.
• Provide updates to the Audit Committee on the company’s tax position, effective tax rate projections, and legislative developments.
• Manage external tax advisors and legal counsel on tax planning, compliance, and audit-related matters.
• Ensure compliance with evolving indirect tax regulations, balancing financial, system, and operational requirements.
• Other duties as assigned

Preferred Education

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
• CPA certification required

Minimum Type of Experience Required

• 12+ years of in-depth tax experience within a well-regarded company
• Comprehensive expertise in US and Canadian tax, including tax planning, compliance, and accounting
• Strong background in tax strategy for mergers and acquisitions
• Proven ability to develop and maintain international tax strategies

Other

• Experience working in a publicly traded company or high-growth private equity-backed environment.
• Retail experience is highly desired
• Strong executive presence and ability to build relationships with C-suite executives, investors, and board members.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Prior experience at a well-recognized public accounting firm (Big 4 preferred)
